Jan 18th HCRP Chair Forum Statement
Cypress Republicans Official Statement in response to statements made by a candidate at last night’s Harris County Republican Party Chair Forum.
As President of Cypress Republicans and a U.S. born American citizen of Hispanic descent, I unequivocally reject and strongly object to statements made by one of the candidates at last night’s Harris County Republican Party Chair forum promoting the use of identity politics within the HCRP.
Over the past year, Cypress Republicans has worked intentionally and tirelessly to build a broad, principled coalition, one rooted not in race or identity, but in shared conservative values. That effort extends far beyond Harris County. Cypress Republicans is the founding member of the Texas Coalition of Republican Clubs (txcrc.com), we are currently connected with more than 250 Republican clubs across the State of Texas, none of which are defined or designated by race. Our unity is grounded in belief, conviction, and commitment to conservatism, not demographics.
Last night, at our table, sat 22 friends representing five different Republican clubs within Harris County. We did not gather as individuals defined by race, background, or labels, but as conservatives bound by shared principles, shared convictions, and a shared responsibility to lead. Our unity was not manufactured, it was organic, built on trust, values, and a common mission to expand true conservative leadership in Harris County.
Statements suggesting the necessity of identity-based politics reveal a troubling lack of engagement with the very grassroots leaders who are doing the work on the ground. Such conclusions can only be reached when one has not taken the time to listen, to build relationships, or to meaningfully engage with the diverse coalition of conservative leaders and clubs already united around shared principles. True leadership requires understanding the community as it is, not relying on hearsay, assumptions or narratives formed in isolation.
Our goal is clear: to turn Harris County not just red, but conservative. That goal is reflected in the campaigns we support, and the standards we uphold. Identity politics divides. Conservative principles unite, and unity is how we win.
Sandra Bramble President,
Cypress Republicans
